dean wellsMESSAGE FROM
THE DEAN

Dear Alumni and Friends,

The School of Pharmacy is poised to move to the next level of accomplishment and national prominence. Although so much has been accomplished, the critical needs remain to enable us to fulfill the promises made long ago and to provide opportunities that allow our students to reach their potential and achieve their dreams. To establish our School as one of America’s premier pharmacy schools, we must accomplish several goals.

  • First, we must construct a new building for students and faculty in Jackson to comply with the new accreditation standards for physical facilities and interprofessional education.

  • We also must work actively to grow the endowments to provide the scholarship support and academic enhancements that our excellent students need and richly deserve.

  • Endowments must also be established to enhance our ability to attract, develop, and retain the most capable faculty. Faculty, staff, and students have gone far beyond the call of duty to bring our institution to its current position.

The Promises to Keep Campaign is an essential initiative to meet present needs and to lay the foundation for the next 100 years of the School of Pharmacy. At this time, we call upon alumni and friends of pharmacy to partner with us to achieve the transformation that is required to improve learning and ensure our continuing success.

The success of this campaign will have a profound impact on the lives of our students and the quality of education they receive. With your help, we will educate young people who will become the next generation of leaders in our profession, and they will be superbly prepared to improve the quality of life of their patients in all pharmacy settings.

Our students are among the best in any pharmacy program in the country, and they deserve the very best pharmacy education we can provide. I ask your support of this campaign to meet our critical current needs and to lay the foundation for the next 100 years of the School of Pharmacy.
Thank you for your loyalty to the School of Pharmacy and for the faith you place in us.
